Rolling Stones Concerts: Watching The Real ThingFans of the phenomenal group Rolling Stones are all set to catch them in flesh as the band is now in the middle of their European Summer 2007 Tour. The band (which started in 1962) is still a force to reckon with even after more than 40 years of existence. Fans are actually expecting more from the Rolling Stones concert in Europe after the band’s North American tour. The North American Rolling Stones tour kicked off at the Fenway Park Stadium, in Boston. And after seeing their idols perform live again, fans are all the more convinced that the Rolling Stones are getting better. Fans agree that the Stones may be aging but their performance level is still tops. In the Stones’ concert in Belgrade last July 14, additional passenger trains were set up in its surrounding towns after the authorities feared that the regular transportation system would be congested (and it was!) due to the event. A great number of fans attended the event and the railway group was right in preparing for human traffic congestion. The series of concerts in almost all parts of Europe is a clear proof that indeed the Stones remain undaunted. The group has kept not only their energy but most importantly their popularity among all groups and nationalities. As proof, people in their 20’s and above gobbled up the tickets for the Rolling Stones European tour. Keith Richards has also managed to remain hot and was offered the chance to play a cameo role in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. Around 55,000 people occupied a whole stadium to watch the band play during the Stones’ concert in Montenegro last July 9. The concert was attended by some high ranking political figures; Bulgaria president Georgi Purvanov and his first lady Zorka Purvanov, being great fans of the popular band group, reserved two seats for the concert. Reports also claimed that three other presidents were around including Croatia’s Franjo Tudman, Serbia’s Boris Tadic, and Georgia’s former head of state Edward Shevardnadze. It was further reported that these political figures greatly enjoyed watching the concert. Plenty of yacht owners also paid a huge amount just to be able to watch the concert from their water-faring vessels. The Rolling Stones concert held in Montenegro was tagged as the largest concert ever held in that country. As a preparation, the concert organizers did some updating and modification of the venue as they expected a huge crowd. In fact, ten health care locales were stationed all over the venue along with a surgery cart on wheels as a precautionary measure for any emergency situation that might arise during the concert. A helicopter unit was placed on standby while about 146 policemen were stationed all over the venue to secure the fans as well as the band members. The crowd went crazy as the band played the all-time favorites: “Paint It Black”, “Jumping jack Flash”, as well as “Brown Sugar”. The band’s concert in Romania was attended by about 60,000 people who sang with the band while holding their hands up in the air. The concert venue was filled to the rafters, with 1,000 additional tickets released and sold that same day to accommodate all the fans. |
